Blood Pressure Monitoring At Home

How important do you thing it is to monitor your own blood pressure? Do you check it regularly? Do you know where to go? Do you monitor it at home? These are just a few questions to ask and answer yourself.

I didn't know when I had high blood pressure. We went to a free clinic at a power company gathering that our electric company puts on each year. The first time we went I was talked into having my blood pressure checked.

I am a small person and hubby is very over weight. Well, guess who had the high blood pressure. They told me to see my primary doctor right away. We didn't have one yet because we had just moved here and hubby had just started working.

When, I finally went the doctor put me on medication. It was a higher dosage than hubby was on. Wasn't happy about that. Told the doctor it should be that way. She said it had nothing to do with size sometimes.

Then when I got sick last year and almost died, it went into the high 200's! I have been on TWO medications since. One that at first I took THREE times a day, the other one. Now, I am down to TWO times a day and one. Hoping this months appointment will reduce it again. My blood pressure in within the range the kidney doctor was shooting for.

We bought a wrist monitor that has been quite accurate. I use it daily to monitor my progress.
