This hub makes me think you're still a MAINEr. It's funny since I went there last year I have a new appreciation for the people that live there and their ability to still make all kinds of things. I've been buying Christmas presents from some of them (including a couple of ornaments, like you mention. Merry Christmas, Peace!! Tom

Tom...pretty much I am still a MAINEr. A person can leave Maine but you cant Maine out of the person. I was born and raised there most of my life. The majority of my family is there. We will be returning there to live in a couple of years or so to be closer to them. We miss so much being away from them. 20 grandchildren is a lot of changing to be missing! :O)

I'm going back next fall, I love it there and moving there never leaves my mind. A friend has some land in a little town called Lee so you never know. Take care, Tom

Lucky you Tom! We aren't sure when we will make it back, so makes it harder for each us each year knowing grandchildren are changing so much.

We have been collecting ornaments since my first child was born 32 years ago. The are all hand made, painted, quilted, etc. They are priceless.

They are priceless for sure. My oldest daughter is 40. Sadly I wasn't creative then so they are broken gone are the physical memories but not the internal. I started a tradition my children hated then. Taking photos in front of the tree. But my two youngest do it with their children. My two oldest no children, not married.

You sound like such a thoughtful and caring person. Making special Christmas tree ornaments, then giving your neighbors a couple is a wonderful idea. It's an idea I plan to borrow this coming Christmas. I usually bake something and deliver to my neighbors a day or two before Christmas, however times are changing and so are the neighbors due to the bad economy and various other factors. There are only a few left that I know by name so I think your idea would work better for most. Thanks for sharing something that I can really put to good use.

I'm pleased Becky that it has spurred an idea in someone else. I used to make welcome packets for new people that moved into our neighborhood before I got sick. It would consist of a magnet with my photography from around the neighborhood, a dish cloth I knit/crocheted among other little things to welcome them.

Gifted Grandma, I love your ornaments and creativity! They make great gifts, or at least I know that I love and appreciate hand made gifts from others. I love the bird ornaments, and I am sure the recipients love them as well.

Those are great bird ornaments. I have some of them as well, and really like the look of handmade ornaments on my tree, especially the ones that are made by me or family members.
