Coloring Becoming An Obsession
65Obsessed with Coloring
After a few month of trying to get my grandchildren to color pictures for me and relate at hundreds of miles distance with no result (sadly). I have had a bit of obsession going online and finding free pictures to color myself. My way of trying to get to know each other better from a distance. I guess the new generation doesn't think it is important to keep connected with loved ones( this is my poor me syndrome kicking in I guess).
With some trial and error, I have downloaded a few that printed out on tiny 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 ATC trading card size. I have tried to transform them into my own version of beauty. Some with color pencils, others with acrylic painting. I am making these to trade as the initial art isn't mine. When it is my own, I try to sell them as ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions and Originals)

It is amazing what you can put on a very small space. ACEO/ATC's are 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch. I have made a few in the past few months with cards, craft items and sewing fabic among other things. We are... - ACEO Painting Artists

These are truly lovely...like stained glass.
Beautiful! And oh how I understand about loved ones not staying in touch! I love the art cards! These are great! I'm glad to be follwing you!
very pretty! I used to love to sit and color with my friends when I was a kid, then later to sit and color with my own children. It's so relaxing and a great way to get a discussion going, especially with boys who love to be busy.
GG, I hear you. I am trying to stay in touch with my mother through cards. I make one a week and it gives us something to talk about. Long distances are so difficult. And shutting off our inner chatter is also challenging. I have been writing morning pages for The Artist's Way this week- it is a book by Julia Cameron. It helps me turn off some of the chatter and is also meditative. I think as the years pass, meditation becomes vital to health and sanity. Good for you, finding something meditative and beautiful that has the added bonus of keeping in touch with those you love.
