How many family generations do you know you have? Do you have a family genealogy tree saved somewhere to pass down? I have been blessed with a photo of my mothers side for three prior generations.
My grandmother, great grand parents and great great grandmother. Yes, as a child I was blessed to have my grandmother live with us for awhile(although I didn't think it was at the time). She make beautiful hooked and braided rugs. I remember we had to hold the ends of the fabric while she braided it for the rugs. She made each of us children, there were nine of us a rug (sadly I never got to see them). I vaguely remember her frame for hooking rugs from fabric rags. She was sickly with diabetic. She died when I was a young teen.
I didn't get the family tree bug until I hit my 50's and a distant niece contacted me by email. Boy oh boy did the bug hit. I researched constantly for a few years until I started to hit dead ends. Thankfully, my brother in law had done research for many years and given me a head start. I just followed that start. There are still loose ends, but something to go on. Mostly, word of mouth from family memebers.

I have a tree on my family and my wife's too. Lot of fun to look into our past and find out how we got where we are. I may do a hub on it, am just too busy now. Nice pictures. thanks
Ooh. Almost forgot, I have roots in NC and my eldest daughter lives there now.
Very cool hub -- love the antique pictures. Very noble looking clan you hail from! My dad was way into the geneaology thing. He did the tree for his family and for my mom's. It's neat to know where your ancestors lived and all the different maiden names of the matriarchs of the family.

Thank you so much for such a warm welcome! c.c.riter and mighty mom, I have done family trees on many as this is my second marriage and have done one for each side on both for our children. I have 7 children 3 of them step with 16 grandchildren. :)

Thanks Granny's house :O) It was many years before I became interested in my family heritage. I work on it now and again.

Welcome to HP and thank you for sharing some of your pictures and genealogy. That bug unfortunately hit me in my late 20's ...:)
