Handmade Curtain Shade

Being on the Martha Stewart community site, I received an email with a buttom-up window shade project. I have been lived in my home here for going on four years, but haven't had official curtains. I saw this project and decided to use some of my fabric stash to make a couple for our master bedroom.

We are in a position financially to spend money for curtains or material for them, but I have been sewing for years. So, I decided to take fabric I already had and my husband would like to make some. He loves lighthouses, the ocean and tropical themes.

I had leftover material with lighthouses and some tropical themes. He didn't mind the patchwork idea. I used beige fabric for the backing. Buttons and loops are what holds the curtain shade at two different levels for light to come in the room. Velcro strips are sewn to the top to attach to window trim, with velcro stapled to the woodwork.

They have been great to keep some of the light out and darkening the room.

Thank you so much Eaglekiwi! I take for granted when things come easier than others. Last year brought things into a whole new presprective for me, when I almost died and the doctors not knowing why. I thank God even more now for the tiniest little things :O)
