Making Newest Granddaughter A Quilt
62Beginning Quilt
Labor Of Love
When visiting family in October of 2008, my youngest daughter gave me some fabric asking me to make her youngest child (our newest grandchild) a quilt. I told her it would be awhile. She understood that.
It was a quick trip before having major surgery again. Very tiring and not very enjoyable other than seeing family that we don't see and miss terribly.
Well, I finally started cutting the quilt squares out last week. It will be slow progress because every other quilt square I am painting the alphabet with a corresponding word for the letter. Making the words as easy to learn as possible so this will be an educational and memory quilt for my grandchild. She just turned one year old May 2009.
Not quite sure when she will get it. She doesn't sleep in her crib but with her parents. So, no hurry. Making her a lap sized one. Gets quite cold in Maine so she can snuggle up with just sitting around watching television.
The photo is the first stages I have done so far.

Think that this is a wonderful idea , and educational aswell as being practical and very pretty.
Wish I had your patience! It will certainly be worth it.
Wow what a wonderful gift that will be.
That's so precious--how wonderful of you to do that for her--I'll bet it comes her "bankie"...
Will you show us how it looks when you get it done? I love quilting, but haven't had time to do it for so long...
