Cats Growling at intruder

This is my observation of my two silly cats most of the time. We took them in when they were older feral kittens. They adopted us (with a little help from me). I called to them each from my front steps when they were passing through my yard. They have been with us over three years now.

The photos are of them a few days ago. While eating lunch, I heard a strange noise. When I went to check what the noise was, this where I found the two cats. They were sitting at the french doors growling. Very unhappy but not asking to go out. I was thinking what could be bothering them that much. They are hardly ever this close to each other and getting along. One of them usually, growls, hisses or bats the other.

I looked out the kitchen window and saw Ben Jr (my husband named him that) as it is our neighbor Ben's cat. He harasses ours all the time. Ours are very territorial.

Sadly, it is funny how our two little cats over power this huge cat. He is probably three times their size. They will chase any animal off the property.

My cat does the same thing...I feed srtay cats out side and she totaly flips out when they come around. I take her out on a leash when the neighbors tame cat comes over...My cat turns from bold to a total whimp when she actually has to confront the "enemy".

We were found by some 4 month old kittens a few years ago. Two of them are boys although they are neutered. They don't seem to be too territorial for some reason. Strays come around and they just ignore them. Are yours neutered? Perhaps that's why mine are so docile, they were neutered right at 6 months.

They were fixed asap :O) The county lady told me that calico's are very territorial(don't like to share)The two we have are just civil to each other. Now there are three more full grown cats roaming around here that keep them riled within the past month. I think they were dumped.

I have many cats but if a stray wanders onto the property it is my dogs who go crazy. They always know which cats are not theirs.

Suziecat7..we don't have dogs, but neighbors do and they bark at EVERYTHING and drive me nuts :O) There is one stray my cats don't seem to bother but another one our calico will race where ever it is and pounce and grab it like a bear, rolling end over end. It is amazing to see it. I was told years ago calicos are very territorial. She barely gets along with our black one(sometimes doesn't).
