Enjoying Nature At Its Best

The favorite part of my yearly vacation to the Massanutten Mountain Resort is the wildlife I encounter through my camera lens. To me it is spectacular. Others enjoy all the facilities, but I would much rather be out looking for what I am able to capture through my lens that will last far longer than anything that is offered within their agenda.

Timeshares are frustrating in that they don't really want to leave you alone even after you have bought. The sales people start calling right away almost to welcome you. Then try getting you to come to something FREE, which in the end really isn't free because they want you to upgrade or buy more weeks. Since we don't need the phone, we usually just unplug it as our family know how to reach us without the land line. We will enjoy it as long as we can afford to. Far cheaper than being in a motel for a week with restaurant expenses.

Now on to the better things. We encounter deer most every where surrounding the areas around us when knowing where to look. New comers are astounded that they eat along side the roads or wander around the units. If you watch closely you will see ground hogs that have particular holes in select spots. They will run for them when they sense you are anywhere near. Squirrels are very abundant there, trying to pick up where the deer are in case someone it throwing tidbits for them to eat.

My favorite is tossing torn pieces of bread. I can toss it out and reduce the distance until a deer will eat it from my palm. Awesome feeling! Then you have birds, woodpeckers, blue birds, blue jays, red cardinals and others I have no clue what they are. It is very hard to get a good shot of them.

Nice hub, I always enjoy photos. You're a Mainer, I went last Sept. for the first time and totally fell in love with it. I'd love to live in Belfast but the winters? Peace!!

Yes, justom I'm a Mainer and don't really look forword to the winters when we move back for retirement. But the majority of family live there, only way to see them. Winters were brutal when I was a child. Now much milder with far less snow! Still don't like the cold though :O) I love taking photos..I'm at my best with flowers because they don't move!!

Wow, that's good info. The winters are bad but not as bad as when you were young. If you are going back, that's great. You've made me think I would do alright if I moved there. I'm used to cold winters in Ohio but Maine just seemed much worse. As for your photos they're just fine, keep taking them. Peace!!

GiftedGrandma, Nice photos. I enjoyed them. I'm a huge fan of New England too. I lived in Boston in the 90s and loved it. I may just buy a condo in East Boston or the North Shore for my retirement. Kind Regards

GH..We aren't looking forward to even the COLD that we get here for winter. And to think we are planning to move back to MAINE for retirement will make us look even a bit crazier in our older age :O)
